While Vietnam isn’t a huge country, it’s long shape makes it difficult to see everything in one or even two weeks. If you only have seven days in the country, here’s a suggestion for how to spend your one week in vietnam.
Days 1-2: Ho Chi Minh City
Fly into Vietnam’s southern city and spend your first afternoon taking a walking tour of Ho Chi Minh’s best attractions, including Reunification Palace and the Ben Thanh Market. After a good night’s sleep, head out of the city for either a tour of the historically significant Cu Chi Tunnels and the architecturally impressive Cao Dai Temple, or take a cruise along the Mekong Delta.

Days 3-4: Hoi An
If you’re pressed for time in Vietnam, Hoi An offers a wide range of experiences in a small package. If you’re looking for a day in the sand, you have the famous China Beach a short bike ride away. Looking to do some shopping? The tailors of Hoi An are famous for their quick and high-quality work. If you’re interested in history, you’ll find it here, as the city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 due to its more than 800 historical landmarks, houses and temples.
Alternative #1: Nha Trang
Visitors looking for less history and more beach should plan to spend a couple of days in the charming seaside town of Nha Trang, where you can go island hopping on a party boat, sip craft beer on the beach and dine on cheap, fresh seafood from local restaurants scattered all along the coast.
Alternative #2: Hue
If you’re more interested in history, then Hue is the place for you. The former Imperial City has a citadel and imperial tombs waiting to be explored, as well as a nearby beach if you decide you want an afternoon of relaxation.
Alternative #3: danang travel
Maybe some fresh mountain air is what you’re after. If so, make da lat vietnam the second stop on your Vietnam itinerary. The hillside resort town is known as “Little Paris,” and the weather is delightfully cool even in the middle of summer.
Days 5-7: Hanoi and Halong Bay
End your tip to tail tour of Vietnam with a few days in the beautiful and historically significant city of Hanoi. Enjoy a night of water puppetry, sip some Vietnamese coffee on the lake and take a day trip to see the dramatic karst formations of Halong Bay before flying back home.
